I have a lot of experience with textile design and silk painting and enjoy making and selling wearable art. But recently I have started to paint on paper and canvas. I am finding that this feels like a more powerful way to express myself. I am influenced by abstract art, the old masters and Bauhaus as well as the colors and light of the Mediterranean. My work has a clear ethnic influence due to my many travels. Colors are very important in my pieces and they represent moments or feelings. I am always looking for contrasts between them and the forms I create. I play with transparency and opaqueness, freedom and control, and use different techniques within one piece. How much can we plan in our own lives? Where does our influence begin or end? These questions are fascinating to me and I investigate them in my work. I use acrylic paints, ecoline, Chinese ink and collage in my paintings or paperwork.
Tengo mucha experiencia con el diseño textil y la pintura sobre seda y disfruto haciendo y vendiendo arte para vestir, pero recientemente comencé a pintar sobre papel y lienzo. Lo siento como una forma más poderosa de expresarme. Estoy influenciado por el arte abstracto, los viejos maestros y la Bauhaus, así como los colores y la luz del Mediterráneo. Mi trabajo tiene una clara influencia étnica debido a mis múltiples viajes. Los colores son muy importantes en mis piezas y representan momentos o sentimientos. Siempre busco contrastes entre ellos y las formas que creo.
